Almaty SuperSki and the Mountaineering Federation of Kazakhstan Agree on Cooperation

Kazakh Tourism Development, the company behind the Almaty SuperSki mountain resort project, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Mountaineering and Sport Climbing Federation of Kazakhstan.

The memorandum was signed by Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Head of Kazakh Tourism Development, and Nursultan Shokanov, President of the Federation. The parties agreed to cooperate in several key areas, including mountain safety, education and specialist training, the development of ski mountaineering, expert support for the mountain cluster concept, and the joint promotion of the project.

As part of the agreement, Kazakh Tourism Development will explore the possibility of establishing a ski mountaineering training base within the resort. Plans also include the development of specialised infrastructure for athlete preparation and the organisation of training camps. In addition, the project envisages the enhancement of mountain safety measures and visitor navigation systems.

The Federation, in turn, intends to contribute to the development of educational programmes and training methodologies, engage instructors and rescue professionals, and support the organisation of national and international competitions within the future mountain cluster.

The partnership marks another step in Almaty SuperSki's ongoing efforts to build strong ties with Kazakhstan's professional and expert communities. Previously, the project signed similar memoranda with renowned Kazakh mountaineer Maksut Zhumayev, athlete Saken Kagarov, artist Sanzhar Zhubanov, and representatives of public organisations working in the field of inclusion.

Scientific support for the project is being provided by Kazakhstan's leading research institutes and universities, including the Institute of Zoology, the Glaciology Centre, the Institute of Archaeology, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

According to Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Almaty SuperSki was conceived from the outset not only as a tourism initiative, but also as a sports development project designed in accordance with international standards of safety and professional training.

Nursultan Shokanov noted that Kazakhstan possesses significant potential for the development of mountaineering, sport climbing, and ski mountaineering. However, unlocking this potential requires modern infrastructure and a systematic approach.

Even at the planning and design stage, Almaty SuperSki continues to bring together a broad professional community around the project. According to the initiative's participants, this collaborative approach will help establish a more sustainable and comprehensive model for the development of mountain tourism and mountain sports in Kazakhstan.
