Public Hearings on the Almaty Superski Project Successfully Concluded
On 26 May 2026, public hearings on the proposed Almaty Superski mountain resort project in the Kok-Zhailau area were held at the Almaty Palace of Schoolchildren.
The hearings were conducted in accordance with the environmental legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the procedure for reviewing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, профильных ministries, the scientific community, industry organisations, public associations, expert groups, the business community, residents of Almaty, as well as participants joining online.
Opening the proceedings, Serik Adilbayev, Chair of the Public Hearings and Head of the Almaty Department of Ecology and Environment, highlighted the importance of openness, transparency, and public dialogue in the implementation of major infrastructure projects.
Presentations were delivered by representatives of the project initiator, Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd., the national company Kazakh Tourism, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken", the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, research institutions, environmental organisations, and members of the sports community.

Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Chief Executive Officer of Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd., presented the key parameters of the Almaty Superski project, its socio-economic significance, and the project's approach to developing modern, internationally competitive mountain infrastructure in Almaty.
During the hearings, participants were also presented with reports outlining the project's tourism potential, its expected contribution to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, the creation of new jobs, the promotion of mass participation in sports, and the enhancement of Almaty's investment attractiveness.
Particular attention was devoted to environmental issues and the preservation of the area's natural balance. The developers of the Environmental Impact Assessment presented the results of environmental studies, proposed mitigation measures, as well as mechanisms for environmental monitoring and public oversight.
Following the presentation session, an open question-and-answer discussion took place, giving participants the opportunity to raise issues of concern and receive detailed responses from government representatives, experts, and project developers.
At the conclusion of the event, it was noted that the public hearings had been conducted in a constructive and open atmosphere, in full compliance with all procedures established by law.
