Prominent Environmental Activist Sergey Spitsyn to Serve as Consultant to Kazakh Tourism Development

Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd. has signed a memorandum of cooperation with prominent environmental activist Sergey Spitsyn. Through this partnership, the renowned eco-advocate will contribute his expertise to efforts aimed at positioning Almaty as a leading destination for environmentally responsible tourism.

The memorandum was signed by Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Chief Executive Officer of Kazakh Tourism Development, and Sergey Spitsyn.

The agreement outlines the parties' intention to cooperate in the development of hospitality infrastructure, food and beverage facilities, and tourist attractions within the Almaty SuperSki project.

According to the company's press service, the engagement of an expert consultant is intended to help create a high-quality and competitive hospitality infrastructure that meets international standards for mountain tourism destinations.

Under the memorandum, Sergey Spitsyn will provide expert, advisory, and reputational support to the project. In particular, he will participate in developing concepts for the resort's food and beverage facilities, including restaurants, cafés, and fast-service outlets, taking into account the specifics of the mountain environment and the operational requirements of both winter and summer tourist seasons.

The consultant will also contribute to the development of tourist trails by assessing existing infrastructure, proposing improvements to visitor routes, and enhancing their overall attractiveness. In addition, he will advise on the planning and operation of visitor centres in mountainous areas and participate in designing tourism attractions tailored to different visitor groups, including families, athletes, and independent travellers.

Furthermore, Sergey Spitsyn will facilitate the transfer of international best practices in the development of hospitality infrastructure in mountain environments. He will take part in industry events and project presentations and support the promotion of the resort as a modern mountain destination with a well-developed service ecosystem.

«Today, the world's leading mountain resorts are guided by the principles of sustainable tourism, where environmental responsibility, service quality, and respect for natural landscapes are of paramount importance. I believe Almaty SuperSki has the potential to become one of Central Asia's leading examples of this approach. To achieve this, it is essential to prioritise environmental responsibility, modern infrastructure, and a comfortable visitor experience from the earliest stages of project planning», said Sergey Spitsyn.

Sergey Spitsyn is a well-known Kazakh environmental activist, public figure, and expert in ecotourism and mountain infrastructure development. He is widely recognised for his initiatives aimed at protecting natural areas, promoting sustainable tourism, and fostering environmental awareness in Kazakhstan. For many years, he has been actively involved in preserving mountain ecosystems, participating in public discussions on tourism infrastructure projects in Almaty and the Almaty Region, and advising initiatives related to ecotourism and sustainable development.
