Maksut Zhumayev appointed Ambassador of the Almaty Superski Project

In order to promote the principles of sustainable development, encourage sports, and foster a responsible attitude toward the environment, a memorandum has been signed under the Almaty Superski project between Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd. and Kazakh mountaineer Maksut Zhumayev.
Maksut Zhumayev will coordinate an expert team dedicated to the development of the mountain environment. Under his leadership, the design of a comprehensive hiking infrastructure and modern visitor centers will be initiated, with these facilities serving as educational hubs for tourists. The expert team will implement an integrated safety framework, ranging from professional trail marking to high-altitude emergency communication systems and the development of detailed route catalogs. Particular emphasis will be placed on the training and certification of mountain guides, as well as on establishing professional training standards, which will contribute to reducing anthropogenic pressure on the region’s natural environment.

Under the memorandum, the parties also agreed to cooperate in the information and image support of the project. Maksut Zhumayev will act as the official ambassador, providing support at both national and international levels.
Maksut Zhumayev is a renowned Kazakh mountaineer, Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the first Kazakh climber to summit all 14 eight-thousanders in the world. He has participated in and led numerous national and international expeditions and has made a significant contribution to the development of high-altitude mountaineering in Kazakhstan. He has been awarded state and industry honors for outstanding achievements and for promoting sports. He is widely recognized as an expert and opinion leader in mountain tourism and mountaineering.

For its part, Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd. will provide organizational and informational support to the ambassador to ensure the effective implementation of joint initiatives.
The Almaty Superski project is one of the key initiatives in the development of mountain tourism in Kazakhstan and is aimed at creating modern tourism infrastructure of international standard.
