State of the Nation Address-2025: special attention is paid to mountain and ski tourism in Almaty and the Almaty region

The President emphasized the need to create modern infrastructure

In his annual Address to the people of Kazakhstan, the Head of State noted that the comprehensive development of tourism infrastructure will be a constant priority for regional authorities, while central authorities will focus their efforts on attracting international tourists and improving legislation.

The Head of State paid special attention to mountain and ski tourism in Almaty and the Almaty region, emphasizing the need to create modern infrastructure. These tasks are addressed by the Almaty Mountain Cluster Development Project for 2025-2029, the launch of which was announced in May this year. Its goal is to create a sustainable and safe ecosystem for year-round tourism of international standard. Three zones have been identified within the cluster, from Turgen to Kaskelen, including key resorts and promising destinations.

The project will use modern technologies, including renewable energy sources and digital monitoring of the environment:

Implementation will be carried out in accordance with environmental requirements and ESG.
Ecotourism will become even more popular. This will include new hiking and mountain biking trails, glamping, ethno-hotels, and better facilities for visitors.
Particular attention will be paid to trails designed for beginner skiers, which will encourage more people to take up skiing.
The implementation of the project will create thousands of new work places and help the country's economy to grow.

The project will combine resorts into one system, develop ecotourism, create new routes and infrastructure for mass recreation, and use modern technologies and environmental standards.
