French company POMA to build cable car systems for the new Almaty SuperSki mountain resort
As part of the implementation of the Almaty SuperSki mountain resort project in the Kok-Zhailau gorge, an agreement was signed for the design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of a cable car system.
The document was signed by Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Chief Executive Officer of Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd., and Edouard Dovilliers, International Sales Director of POMA S.A.S.
The signing of the agreement was preceded by extensive preparatory work. Specialists from Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd. conducted a comprehensive market analysis to identify a company capable of delivering a full turnkey solution - from design and equipment manufacturing to supply, installation, and commissioning of cable car systems.
The project partner selected was French company POMA S.A.S., one of the global leaders in the design, manufacturing, and operation of cable transportation systems. The company has nearly 90 years of experience: since 1936, POMA S.A.S. has implemented around 8,000 projects in 90 countries worldwide. The company’s technological solutions are used at leading ski resorts and urban transport systems across the globe and meet the highest international standards of safety, reliability, and environmental sustainability.
As part of the Almaty SuperSki project, 11 modern cable car systems of various types will be constructed, including 3S gondola lifts, 10-passenger gondola lifts, and chairlift systems.
Cable cars will play an important role as part of the resort’s social infrastructure. Modern transportation systems will make mountain areas accessible to all categories of visitors - children, elderly people, and guests with limited mobility - removing traditional barriers that have restricted access to mountainous terrain. Thus, the natural beauty and unique landscapes of the Kok-Zhailau gorge will become accessible to all residents and visitors of Almaty, regardless of age or physical fitness level.
The signing of the agreement marks an important milestone in the implementation of Almaty SuperSki and confirms the project’s commitment to the highest international standards of quality and safety in mountain resort infrastructure.
