Design and survey work has begun as part of the Almaty Superski project

The Almaty Superski project has entered a new phase with the start of design and survey work.
The purpose of the design and survey work is to assess the impact on the environment, to determine the optimal technical solutions, and to provide a foundation for the project's subsequent design and implementation.
Geodetic and geological surveys will be conducted as part of the design and survey work. These surveys will comprehensively study the terrain, soils, and underground conditions of the area. Geodetic work will include topographic surveying, determining elevations and coordinates, refining site boundaries, and preparing accurate layouts for future facilities. Geological surveys will include soil analysis, sampling, and an assessment of the physical and mechanical properties of soils, as well as an evaluation of seismic stability and possible natural hazards. This data is necessary for designing infrastructure safely and sustainably, while taking into account the characteristics of the mountainous terrain and environmental protection requirements.
More than 10,000 skiers a day will be able to use the modern ski infrastructure that is being built as part of the Almaty Superski project. The plans include 16 cable cars and more than 60 kilometers of trails of varying difficulty. The popularity of skiing will be increased and the sport made more accessible to the general public by the fact that some of the trails are designed for beginner skiers.
Special attention will be paid to environmental responsibility and accessibility in the implementation of the project. All work will be carried out in compliance with environmental regulations and international standards. There are plans to develop routes for hiking and mountain biking, as well as to create inclusive infrastructure for visitors with special needs. Best international practices in sustainable construction will be applied to minimize the impact on nature. Monitoring of the ecosystem will be carried out on a continuous basis and will cover the parameters of air, water and soil.
The project will be supported by an internationally renowned consultant, PGI, a company founded in 1957 in Andorra and specializing in strategic planning, marketing, operations management, and consulting in the ski industry. Over decades of work, the company has participated in the implementation of more than 120 resort projects on four continents, which have become successful examples of sustainable tourism development in Europe and Asia.
Earlier, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting of the Board of Directors of Kazakh Tourism Development Ltd, at which issues related to the implementation of the Almaty Superski tourism project were discussed and an updated master plan developed jointly with PGI was presented.
